In 1928, a company called Bremshey & Co could see the potential for such a product and helped produce the first varieties of this innovative pocket umbrella. 

It was the beginning of a new era, and many different sizes, shapes and colors were developed. 

 New and innovative materials were used, and daring constructions were created with many of them setting the standard for how umbrellas should be, 

like the first automatic version in 1965, and the new Knirps XI in 2004, 

the smallest Knirps of all time.

1928年，德國工程師Hans Haupt 發明世界上第一支摺疊式雨傘。

1950年代中期，Knirps為了對抗仿冒品的日益增加，實行現代化的製成，使品質更為精進，並賦予"小紅點"的圓形品牌標誌，行銷全世界。

時至今日，Knirps以其最優良的技術及最先進的材質被譽為全球最佳雨傘品牌。

 

 

2004年英國設計師David和Andrew Haythornthwaite合作，設計出的X1輕量碳纖維摺疊傘(16.5cm， 228g)，MINI又時尚的外觀成功打進一向對品質嚴格要求的日本市場，創下首年單款超過2萬5千支的銷售佳績。2005年更是獲得日本GOOD DESIGN大賞，同年T1系列也贏獲Red Dot award 紅點設計獎

在德國，下雨天被稱為"Knirps Weather"由此可見Knirps在德國人心目中的地位。

Knirps強大製傘技術也備受肯定，為多家頂級品牌如Chanel、LV、Benz、AUDI等等代工，2005年被奧地利Doppler頂級雨傘品牌買下。與Kobold延伸產品線的策略不同之處，Knirps主要朝頂級時尚配件道路發展，讓雨傘跟包包、高跟鞋同樣能成為重要時尚配件。

 

 

 

以頂級品牌自我期許 Kobold公司最早是在德國Solingen小鎮發跡，當時的工廠名稱還叫做K&R，1855年時還是毫不起眼的小企業。

但以研發為核心目標，百年來Kobold擁有發明全世界第一支自動摺疊傘、最多的傘具發明專利、歐洲皇室專用各種頭銜。

1979年K&R收購了Bremshey(底下有Knirps雨傘品牌)，合併之後在台灣設工廠「奇美」，生產Kobold與Knirps的雨傘。當90年代中國大陸崛起，出現更低廉的勞力與生產模式，基地從台灣就轉移到大陸。

K&R除了自有品牌還接代工訂單，但與其他進入中國傳統產業不同之處，它並非一昧接單生產，而是把省下的利潤，投入研發新產品、新技術，堅持百年前創始的核心精神。由於工廠生產管理的成功，讓整個企業再活絡起來。

2002年經營者決定重塑Kobold品牌，以最頂極的雨傘品牌作為全新出發，進行品牌改造重要策略，2007年也聘請英國的設計團隊Andrew Haythornthwaite & Shai Akram一同開發新產品線與形象改造，延伸出旅行概念商品

Knirps umbrellas are conceived, designed and engineered in Germany, and that on its own is a guarantee of quality, safety and innovation. With our in-house engineering, research and design facilities, we are always looking to make our excellent products even better. 

Knirps products are different because they are designed and made differently. Built to be used in the wettest of weathers, they can and do last a very long time. Materials are high quality so that they work better. Attention to detail and quality control is part of the way the firm conducts business, and it shows. 

To be sure of this, we put our products through rigorous testing in wind tunnels and anti-corrosion laboratory.
